Default 02 Path Swirl Control Valve . . . Help

The check engine light came on for my 02 pathfinder, took it to auto zone to pull the code, said the probable cause was an open or short circuit condition or failed swirl control valve. I'm not sure what this is, but can someone fix it themselves and what would a repair cost - ballpark? Thanks

There is a vacuum hose between the swirl solenoid valve and the swirl solenoid valve switch, it is common for the hose to get clogged and trigger the code. The solution is to clean the hose and clear the code.

What code exactly did you get? pxxxx?

Also check the power control valve operation to make sure it is not seized. You will experience good driving when cold but no change when warm, indicating the power valves are not opening.

Ended up taking the pathfinder into the shop. They pulled the code and got the same thing I got, proceeded to follow Nissan's troubleshoot for that code and unplugged all of the solenoids and tested them individually and all tested fine. There was no blockage in the hose either. Test drove after clearing the code and nothing has happened after three days. Shop mentioned that it may have been a piece of carbon holding open a valve and that can trigger it and by pulling everything it may have knocked it loose. All in all, the shop just charged me for an oil change, not bad considering they spent all day testing everything.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help and suggestions from this site's contributors. I will turn here again when I need too and even when I don't for some tips. Thanks.
