Default Almera key broken

Hey guys - bit of advice needed.
I have a 96 Nissan Almera and the key broke in the door today. I managed to get it out but am now wondering what I can do.

What exactly is the deal with the NATS system? Will I have to go through the Nissan dealership to get a new key? It's pretty expensive (up to €180).

Any help or advice is appreciated.

There are some HI-END locksmiths that have the proper equipment to cut/reprogram a new set of keys.Try your yellow pages or net and call first.
