Default P2A00 fault code

Hi,
Has anyone any idea what this code relates to on a September 2007 registered X-trial (T31) I've been told its something to do with the air/fuel sensor but does it indicate that I need to change the sensor or that there is a fault or faults that the sensor is picking up. If so what are the most probable faults.
Many thanks in advance
Nigel

Yes the fault code is for Air Fuel Ratio Sensor 1, Bank 1. Bank 1 is where cylinder 1 is. These sensors has a life cycle of more or less 100k miles. The sensor could be carbon up or damaged wires. You usually don't have major performance issue other than poor MPG. If you have performance issue like a misfire, the cause is something else like intake air leak or vacuum leak, etc. Probably time to replace the A/F sensor.
