P0745-Pressure Control Solenoid Malfunction
Hi am checking to see if anyone can assist me. I have a 1997 Infiniti QX4 3.3L same exact engine as the pathfinder 3.3l 1996-1999. My overdrive light blinks 16 times when I start the engine and then goes off also I receive a hard shift between first and 2nd gear. I had a mechanic check it out and the computer gave the error code mentioned in the subject. I was reviewing other forums and I see the there might be something called a "dropping resistor" that can cause this. Does anyone know where it is located? The mechanic also advised me to get the pressure control solenoid for the transmission. What would be my best option?

Thank you vpnavy for you response. I have viewed that particular forum that you attached but the engine compartment for the altima and the pathfinder is quite different. Do have a diagram of the "dropping resistor" for the pathfinder?

It should be bolted to one of the strut towers(driver's side I think). I would start with that first.

Ok Thank you very much I will investigate and let you know what I find. I have also asked other mechanics about the resistor to which none of them seem to have any knowledge. They concluded that the "drop resistor" is just a term. I totally dis agree but I have limited sources because I live in the caribbean.

Dropping Resistor on my Frontier is right beside the battery tray on the passenger side inner fender. Give that a try.

Dropping Resistor Update
Just a note, I was having the same problem and replaced the dropping resistor from one in a junkyard, cured it right away. Shifts normal again. Try a junkyard first, its only a resistor and Nissan wanted 90 bucks for it! got mine for 25. Remember to take along an ohm meter and make sure it reads approximately 11-12 ohms.
