1987 300ZX - Change man. trans gear oil?
I have a 1987 300ZX with 211k miles and it is my everyday car. I know that the non-turbo manual transmission takes API GL-4 gear oil, which I have never changed.
The transmission is just starting to get a little sticky when shifting, and I am wondering if changing out the fluid would prolong the transmission life....or maybe shorten it! Thanks, Brian |

It will not shorten it unless you use the wrong gear oil. I use Redline MT 90 which is a GL-4 synthetic gear oil.
