Until someone responds - I check around the net and found the following on your 350Z...

1. "...Original tranny was replaced after 23k miles because of grinding while shifting to 3rd gear. This tranny has only 10k miles on it, was replaced about 1 year ago and is "supposedly" the new BEEFIER trann..."

2. "...It grinds when I put it into 3rd gear..." "... I would suspect that the 3rd gear syncros are worn-out..."

There were a few other complaints - but I wanted you to know you weren't alone.

I'm sure one of the Nissan Specialists will respond shortly...

How were you able to find out the information about this car and transmission on the net?

I didn't find any recall information pertaining to your car. You can also search the Recall and Service Bulletins for your ride on:

I used Google and entered (can't remember now) the year, model, transmission, 3rd gear, etc. and kept refining it until I found some information.

I have the same problem. I brought my Z to Ireland, where I live now and went to the dealer here. Unfortunately they refused to help under warranty. Guys here claim I have to go to my American dealer to get it fixed under warranty. I read about this problem on many forums already. Looks like the tranny has to be replaced. No problem after replacing it with 009. For me is a cost of new tranny so I will keep it like it is now. Especially because the syncro noise is there only in high revs.
