The list of cars, trucks, crossovers and SUVs represents the vehicles that the publication's editors most recommend to shoppers, selected from more than 400 models across 39 eligible market segments. The Nissan Versa was named to the "Subcompact car" category of the 2023 Editors' Choice list. Winning vehicles are selected by Car and Driver editors based on subjective evaluations of vehicle performance, instrumented testing, how well each vehicle fulfills its intended mission, and the ranking a vehicle earns in its segment versus its competition.
