Question CVT manual shift

Hello,

I am new to this forum so many thanks in advance for your help!
I am in the UK and have a 2005 Murano. These are no where near as popular in the UK as they are in the US, so looking for advice isn't so easy.

Heres the problem....

My CVT seems to work just fine in "full auto", but when its in drive and I flick the shift over to manual, nothing happens. The car just continues in auto. There is no noise or change in sound, there is still a "D" on the dash display. When I try shifting up or down nothing happens.

Are there any connectors/connections I can check myself before taking the car to a transmission specialist....or worse still...to a Nissan stealership?

I might add, there is a very small (and I mean tiny) leak that looks like its coming from between the cvt and the transfer case. A garage looked at it and said they were reluctant to strip it all down for a leak so small, just keep an eye on the levels.

Could low cvt oil levels be a cause?

Whilst this doesn't really cause a problem for my day to day driving, I'd really like to get this sorted.

Many thanks in advance

Steve.

Took this from another poster......

You can start the car in park and then before touching the gas, selecting manual 1st. You will see the 1 come up where the D usually is to indicate you are in 1st.

Simply "flick" the shifter up or down to shift up or down. There is a restriction however... the car must be moving a certain speed (probably around 5-10 mph or so) before you can shift any higher than 1st. However, once you get over that speed you can flick the shifter up repeatedly and hit 6th gear in a matter of seconds if you wanted too.. (why would you want to at that slow a speed though).

I don't know anything personally about your specific question.

I tried this, and still nothing.

Whether I'm stationary from start up, or moving, nothing happens, it still drives, but in full auto. Shifting up and down does nothing.

Are there any mechanical linkages or electrical connectors that can be physically checked on the transmission?
