Hello
Is the switch on top (See figure 1). Look for the switch with red/yellow and red/green wires.

I'm having the same problem. I can't get my 2003 Nissan Murano out of park. I have checked the fuses. No problems there. I have pushed the manual release button but that isn't helping either. I called the locate Nissan dealership. They advised to push the shift release button, which I did and got nothing. They advised they would have to tow it in. How would they tow anything with the vehicle unable to switch out of park? They advised that they would hate to have to do that, but they wouldn't have a choice. I would rather them not cause a bigger problem. It starts and runs fine. Please HELP!

It can sometimes be a symptom of a battery getting ready to fail even if everything seems to be working fine..........the amps drop just enough to not fully activate the solenoid there.
I have no children (what the switch is for-safety issue) and I routinely disable those switches to never be an issue again. You generally have to yank console and dig around the shifter assembly to find the device then figure out how to disable it. Haven't done it on a Nissan yet but that is coming. 'How would they tow anything with the vehicle unable to switch out of park?' The only way they can, by dragging the vehicle up the towtruck platform and possible damage done there to transmission. Why one would be better off working out another way to do it. |
