Default 2017 Maxima SR Wheel Change

Purchased new 2017 Maxima SR 19" wheels August 2017 - 29,000 miles and still on factory installed tires. Love the car but would like to improve the ride. Two questions:

Can I downsize the wheel / tire package to a 17" wheel? Some research indicates that I cannot downsize as the SR was designed for this wheel size. All specs on the SR appear to be the same as those on the SV which uses the smaller wheel.

If not, would appreciate suggestions for best tires for 19" wheels to soften the ride and minimize road noise.

Thanks!
