Steering hard to turn when cold
I have a 2007 Maxima and when cold starts or in the morning my steering is hard to turn, once the car is moving under normal conditions it is find, I had belts replaced a few months ago because of squealing, the hard steering has been going on for a year, no leaking

If you don't have loss of steering fluids, then the issue could be in the suspension like the tie rods (inner or outer). Have your steering and suspension system inspected.

It could also be that the P/S pump is failing. A pressure gauge for P/S systems would be needed to confirm, but unfortunately, it's not a common tool to have even in many shops and dealerships.

Does it usually happen after the car sits over night? Does it feel tight for a quarter turn of the steering wheel then feel normal for the second quarter turn?
Binding u-joints on the lower steering shaft is common on these. |

It just feels like the ps pump like its a lot of pressure to turn when first cranked or cold
