It could be the head unit...or the amplifier. Your best bet would be to download a factory service manual and look at the trouble symptom chart in the audio section, which will list the possible causes in order of probability, and follow the diagnostic steps provided. If it is the head unit, there are companies that repair these head units, as well as Bose Corporation. Or, you could gamble on a used one from a salvage yard (assuming you want to keep the Bose and not go with an aftermarket system).
