2001 Nissan Maxima Front Catalytic Converter
Good morning. I'm stressed but ok... So I purchased the Walker direct fit cat and attempted to remove the bad cat. I removed 3 bolts and 2 nuts from the top and the 3 bolts from the bottom... The cat did not come out, it would barely budge. I did something stupid because I'm a novice and tried to pry it loose and hit it with a hammer a few times and probably clogged up the stage in the exhaust. I can only assume that the 2 star bit lugs at the top need to be removed as well. Please help.

As far as I know those are the only bolts and nuts you have to remove, I'll check with other techs for advice.

If you look in my pictures you'll see the lugs I'm speaking on.

My friend had the same problem. He said that you have to remove the two 12 mm bolts holding the other catalytic converter (the pipe attached to the one you are replacing), and you have to remove the front engine mount. Once you remove the mount and bolts you have to use a pry bar to get the cat out. I hope that helps

Ok. The way I was looking at it I didn't think I had to touch that part since I was changing that cat only but I guess I'll give that a try this weekend...
