Default Kinda at a loss with this P1400 and the Tach Signal

1997 Maxima 242K miles

P1400 Code
Replaced EGR Valve (Old one was not dirty and replaced two years before)
Replaced EGR Temp Sensor

Still P1400 Code
Removed the EGR Vacuum Switch Solenoid Valve and it tested fine.

I just read where the Solenoid Valve might fail when Hot so I plan to test that here in a few hours.
The Maxima has a radio and a tachometer gremlin (tach goes to 8K and stays or bounces around) Radio issue I think has been fixed.

Could this issue with P1400 and tach be a grounding issue with in the car?
Tags are 3 months expired and pushing my luck.

If you can point me into any ideas I will try anything right now.
Thanks

Well, tested it when the car pulled back in the driveway and it failed the test.
Allowed the motor to cool and tested it and it passed. Removed it from the car and heated it up and it failed the test.

Logged on to the net and ordered a new one for 72 shipped to my door.
Hope it comes in soon so I can pass emissions and renew the tags.

Not likely.

Usually the problem with a P1400 code is the solenoid it self. I had a couple of vehicles were the solenoid actually worked OK (open and close the vacuum flow) but the resistance in the coil inside the solenoid was higher than what the ECM was expecting.

Hopefully in your case the solenoid will fix the problem.

Had same issue with one of my Max's. I checked the solenoid cold and it was always in spec, but apparently would get out of spec when hot (it sits in a very hot place).

I removed it, cleaned it and it still would throw the code.

Once I replaced it, reset the code, it has never returned.

$72 is a great price for a new one. The local dealership wanted $145 for one. I told them I could get it online for $80 and they matched that price.
