Default 01 Maxima ATF fluid change

Yesterday I did a drain/fill of ATF fluid. Before starting I checked levels cold and hot, the cold check was at the upper limit of the cold range while the hot check was right in the middle of the hot range. So all seemed fine as far as ATF level. Then removed plug and drained into pan. After it finished, I poured old fluid into a milk jug where I had 1 quart lines drawn. The old fluid that came out on the drain was 3 3/4 quarts. But I was expecting something like 4 1/2 quarts, so I'm wondering where the other 3/4 of a quart is? I did this in my garage, so it's a level spot. Anyway, just seems odd everyone else reports getting 4 1/2. Oh, the one difference perhaps is I didn't need to jack the front end up, I was able to do everything with all the wheels on the ground, so does jacking the front end allow more fluid to come out?

Yes, it make a big difference because it will drain all the fluid from the torque converter. 3-4 qts sounds about normal.
