2003 Maxima GLE transmission problem
Hi,
While driving, my car suddenly has no power. The transmission shifts into neutral and the RPMs go up to 5,000-6,000. When I pull the car over, I have to put it into park, shut the car off, restart it, and once the A/T light flashed 16 times very quickly. The check engine light also just came on after this code flashed. When I put the car in 3, and it seems to be okay. What does the code mean for 16 flashes? I'm not sure what to do, I'm afraid to drive the car and I'm worried that we might have to pay to completely replace the transmission. |

You should first check the transmission fluid level and condition. Top off the fluid if is too low.
If the fluid is OK, the next step is getting a code with an OBDII scanner. Reading the code with the flasher it's not very accurate. Here are the instruction from the service manual to read the code without the scanner: http://nissanhelp.com/diy/common/nis...des_read_2.php Most auto parts stores or shop will read the code free for you.

2003 Maxima GLE
I have recently started having problems with my Maxima. The car just shuts itself off as I'm driving. I have to put the car in park, turn it completely off. It will restart after a few tries. The service engine, TCS and slip lights come on. I had my oil changed only 3 weeks ago and my fluids are all topped off. What could be the problem? Is it transmission, or motor?

First things to do would be to check your battery and battery cable connections, check your charging system and if that's all good, get the trouble codes read.
