Default Please help!

I have a 2000 maxima. It has no check engine light. What it does is between 20 and 50 mph it will surge [rpms jump up and down] but not all the time its just intermittent. And sometimes hard to crank. New plugs, it had a new maf about 4 years ago and it stopped for a while but then started back. I checked the wires to the maf and all within specs. Its a aftermarket maf. Ive read about the pcm needing to be flashed, but if it does why would it drive okay for a year or so and then start messing up again, wouldn't it drivd worse as soon as it was replaced. Could it be tps????

I would be suspicious of an aftermarket MAF, as problem sounds like what mine was doing when MAF bit the dust. I replaced with a refurbished OEM MAF from autopartsexpress.com (about $160) and a new isolator ring from the dealer (about $10) some 18 months ago and it has been fine ever since.

I put in a refurbished OEM MAF from autopartsexpress.com (about $160) and a new isolator ring from the dealer (about $10) and the problem was solved. Vehicle has been running fine ever since. Good luck.
