Default 96 Maxima GLE, P0141 Code PLEASE READ

Changed my Bank1 Sensor2 Oxygen sensor which i believe is the P0141 code, After clearing check engine light it comes back on within minutes of driving, Also With engine running on the scanner it looks like that Sensor isn't fluxuating at all stays stuck on some numbers i can think of right now, Any clue? Tried two different 02 Sensors with same results..

OBDII Code P0141 NISSAN - Rear Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2 | Engine-Codes.com

There is no P0141 code for your 1996 Maxima. It's possible that the scanner you are using is not compatible with your 96 Maxima and is giving you the wrong code.

1. It appears you've replaced the correct sensor Bank 1, sensor 2. Bank 1 refers to cylinder 1. So Bank 1 is the side where cylinder 1 is. I'm not sure what sensor you used. For Nissan cars I only recommend NTK or BOSCH. If you bought it from a Nissan dealer you're good.

2. It appears your scanner has live data capability and that is good. Keep in mind do not try to scan before engine has reach normal operating temperature because at this point the system still in Open Loop and ECM is not yet monitoring the oxygen sensors. When engine has reach normal operating tempt., system goes into Closed Loop. Your scanner will also say that.

3. O2 Sensor 2 has a longer switching frequency as it monitors the oxygen level in Bank 1 & 2. When car is at idle it stays pretty much level hardly changing. However if you have an exhaust leak that can deplete the oxygen level the switching is much more frequent. Depending on the voltage output, the ECM determines the a/f ration is lean and must add more fuel, or a/f ratio is rich and reduce fuel via the Fuel Trim program.

@NissanTech, Are you sure? I just rechecked with my scanner it says P0141 (02 Bank 1 Sensor 2) I'd be willing to try another scanner if you're sure my 96 Maxima GLE doesn't have that code. Thanks

@BennyB53 Well what i did was try a used Sensor off another Maxima first before paying the $75 at Autozone, I did scan with engine was warm and all seemed to move just a tad mostly when reeving, But that sensor throwing the code didn't move at all BUT it also did that with the other sensor.. What do you think? I can find the volts and stuff if you'd like. Thanks

Is that sensor from another Maxima that you own? Shop online at rockauto.com or autopartswarehouse.com.

This is a picture of my scanner, if you notice the other sensors are moving up and down a bit but the B1 S2 is 420mV and wasn't moving at all, Is that why the code came up?

This is only one still frame, its not a video. I'm sure you realized your scanner is millivolt calibrated. Its not hard to convert: 1000mV= 1.0v. Your O2S2-B1 will read .42v is good. The range is: 0v lean - 1.0v rich.

The RPM at 1063 I assume you rev the engine a bit. If it is your regular idle speed, then it is high. Take the car on a drive with scanner hook up. Let someone drive while you monitor the scanner.

The code came up cuz the sensor is faulty.

So you think both Sensors i put in are faulty? I'll buy a new one but if the code pops right back up thats kind of a waste of $75 cause they don't refund electronic parts

You said the sensor is from another Maxi but you didn't say from another Maxi you own. If you didn't install that sensor, how can you be sure it is a good sensor.

1. P0505-IAC/AAC. This is priority 1. A few owners reported their ECM was fried due a failed stepper motor that cause spike voltage to ecm.
