Default Rust around sunroof and chrome is peeling

Hi everyone, I have an 04 Maxima and I realized that there are huge rust spots around the sunroof. I had the sunroof replaced with the recall a few months ago and am wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the rust around the glass. I also am having a problem with the chrome that goes around the top of the car, it's peeling all over. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

Thanks,
Christie

Default Rust around leaking sunroof.

Hello, My daughter recently purchased an '04 Maxima. The seal around the sunroof is leaking and the roof around it is rusting underneath the paint. She called Nissan and was informed that the glass had been previously replaced under the recall for it, but the leaking and rust are not covered outside the warranty period. After a diligent search, I found that the rust issue and leaking is very common but is not covered under warranty or recall.
WHY IS IT RUSTING UNDER THE PAINT AND IF I TAKE IT TO A BODY SHOP AND HAVE THE RUST SPOTS REAIRED AND PAINTED WHAT WILL PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN IN THE FUTURE? The rust spots are about an inch from the actual cut out in the roofs sheet metal, not at the actual edge. I can only assume the moisture is wicking from the edge to that point and getting trapped, then rusting the metal under the paint there.
EVEN IF THE RUBBER SEAL IS LEAKING, WHY IS WATER GETTING UNDER THE PAINT?
I suspect that this is the result of the (recall repair) for the glass replacement, which according to posts I have read, were breaking because of improper tempering of the original glass.
I have owned and have been very happy with nothing but Toyotas and find this problem with Nissan to be unacceptable and very disappointing.
Can anyone provide solid advice as to precisely what caused this problem and a permanent remedy.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and help.
