93 Maxima Stalls when put in drv or rev.
Sometimes, when the car is first started it will stall when I put it in reverse or drive. While giving it gas while in park or neutral with my foot on the brake and shifting into reverse or drive it keeps running but it runs very rough. After driving it for a while, a few seconds, it smooths out. Then I can shift in and out of gear at idle without it stilling or running rough. Also there is no check engine light or fault codes. I have read a few posting like this one but there were no fixes. Please help. Thanks.

I had a similar problem on my 01 Maxima, I fixed it by replacing the Idle Air Control Valve, $185 from Rockauto.com---- If you don't get a reply from the online tech, then download the engine control section of the manual for that year, and start reading.

I replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF). It has been running great for almost 4 weeks.
I got the idea from reading post with like problems. |

Car Stalls - are these the same symptons?
I have a 98 Maxima and the car starts fine, but when I put it in reverse or drive, it stalls. My current fix, let the car warm up for 5 mintues and it runs fine.
I took it to my mechanic and he unplugged the MAF and it still stalled. He hooked it up to a computer and there were NO codes. If it was the Idle air control value - would it not register on the computer? Just want more information before I order parts I may not need. Got and extra MAF now... |
