Default 04 Maxima ABS Problem

Hey,

another Maxima with yet another ABS issue.
My maxima's ABS was acting up a low speeds.
making really wierd noises. I was told to disconnect the ABS pump, (near front right fender) which i did.

But now, every time i insert my key and turn it,
there's a weird noise thats coming from that pump.
like its trying to power itself but fails.
it only happens once every time i start the car. or insert the key and turn it to the level right before ignition.

I'm wondering if this is hurting the system?
or if i can drive the car normally for a while without having to worry about that noise?

thanks in advance.

That noise is the abs system self check. It is normal to hear that on startup.

yeah but this sound started coming after i disconnected that cable. its very loud and sounds like the window motor almost for 2-3seconds.
and i opened the hood and it sounds like its coming from that abs motor thats above the passenger fender in the engine compartment.

Why don't you "re-connect" the cable and see if the noise goes away.

yeah it made the sound go away but i feel that my cars steering has somehow been affected. it feels like the steering is being stiff at every rotation. but after a while of driving, it gets normal. any idea what this is related to?

i've left the abs connector disconnected until my date with mechanics later this week.

The steering issue is usually the lower steering shaft. It has a small universal joint that binds up. You will need to replace the shaft to correct it.

i took it in to my mechanic and he fixed the problem by spraying some WD40. the steering is very smooth now. I'm wondering if this problem will come back anytime soon? (hope not)

thanks for your reply. Is this a costly fix? I have to take care of the ABS issue first.

I'm now getting my Parking Break light on at random times during driving. I have to turn the car off and back on again it goes away. Is this related to the ABS problem?
