Default 2012 heater control

The heater vent control works fine when first started up, it will work 5 or 10 minutes and then closes off. I can hear the heater fan is still working. Sometimes we can turn off the engine and restart. it may work and then shut off minutes later, that is seldom. Acts like maybe a door closes off? Is the vent, floor heat, and defroster controlled by vacuum? I don't know where to start at or what to look for. My '97 Dodge Ram did this and it had a rubbed hole in the vacuum line. Thanks, Terry

Nissan doesn't use vacuum controls any more on the heaters, they use electric mode door actuators. There's one for the fresh air/recirc door, one for the air mix door (hot/cold) and another for the different modes (floor, defroster, dash vents). If it's auto climate control, the system should have self-diagnostics. The procedure, as well as symptom diagnostic chart for the HVAC system, should be in the factory control manual, probably in the "HA" section, IIRC. NICO Club's site allows free access to their online Nissan factory manuals, so it might be worth checking out.
