Angry Black (spy) Box on Board- New Standards for Automotive Big Brother

All you Nissan ( especially GT-R ) owners should read an article in Autoweek magazine , on how Nissan and BIG BROTHER are spying on your driving habits by using new developed electronic data recorders (EDRs), and vehicle status data recorder (VSDR) . All you guys who like to drive fast in your cars "TAKE NOTICE" .

Here is the link to the article:

Dude, that has nothing to do with big brother, it has more to do with warranty than anything else. It is in place to keep people from abusing the warranty when they damage the vehicle with mods or racing. Besides Ferrari has had a similar system for years.

Gm has also been using it for years. Also on-star is far more intrusive than Nissan's black box.

Gotta love that microphone installed in your car, letting them hear you "rock out" to such classic hits as Hall & Oates

Default @ the "black box"

Nissan uses the "black box " on the GTR for warranty purposes. it records 40 hrs of data. It can see if the vehicle was abused when the problem occured. And it can see the launch mode. Also they can see ALL ECM programs inserted AND removed from the ecm...... it keeps a log on all activities.
