Default Find the MODEL from the VIN

I have several dozen Nissan VINs in column A of an Excel spreadsheet.
How can I determine what the MODEL is for each of those?

Default Model in Nissan VIN

I saw that table earlier this week.
But, I don't know which "digits" in the VIN to use to match with the 1st column of the table.

This seems to be a top-secret process since even 4 people I spoke to at Nissan couldn't tell me how!

What's the secret? And, why doesn't anyone know how to do this programmatically?

There is no secret, The MODEL is the 5th digit. Looks at the table

OK, I see the 5th digit is a "G"...but that's not in the list below it.

The 5th digit in these:

5N1AR2MM7GC652685
3N1CE2CP0GL396644
1N6BA1F47GN509387

is R, E, and A respectively.

The table shows 6 codes beginning with "A"...How do I go from there?

A10 Nissan 510 (78-81)
A32 Nissan Maxima (1995-1999)
A33 Nissan Maxima (2000-2003)
A34 Nissan Maxima (2004-2009)
A35 Nissan Maxima (2010-2012)
A60 Nissan Titan (2003-2012)

The problem is that VINs you have are for new models (2016) and we haven't update our tables yet. Also most of the programs online that decode VINs are not up to date yet either.

Default Model in Nissan VIN

Thank you for the PDF chart. That's a good start.

Here's my question (again). If Position 5 codes the MODEL, and Position 5 is an "R", for example, how does one know if it's a PATHFINDER or a GTR? Based on the chart, if Position 5 is an "A", it seems it could be a MAXIMA or an ARMADA or a TITAN.

Still very confusing.

Different charts for cars and trucks.
