1999 Infiniti QX4 P0325 code, knock sensor issue
my vehicle is throwing a P0325 code (knock sensor) + oxygen sensor circuit low voltage bank 2 sensor 1 ... I'm being told the knock sensor is hell of work, $$$ I've seen videos on relocating it but want to know if it really works and whether it performs the same as the one that's in its original placement ? **somebody help**

First off, relocating the Knock Sensor will not fix the underlying issue that cause the ECM to throw out the P0325 code. Why don't you replace the Oxygen sensor, erase the codes and see if they come back.

Ok I have a Infiniti 99 QX4, the pathfinder videos are compatible with Infiniti I will definitely get back to you with whether the code remains THANKS! typically how often do knock sensors go off? I just bought this car

They do fail occasionally, but whenever you get a knock sensor code with another code, you fix the other code first because the knock sensor code may be stored as a reaction to that other code. Knock sensors typically don't trip the check engine light unless the circuit is shorted or open, so it is likely that your O2 sensor code caused the CEL to come on and not so much the knock sensor.

So it appears I've had the P0151 (o2 sensor) code fixed and cleared the system. Drove it for about 10 miles and Service Engine light right back on
So now it seems as if I HAVE to replace the P0325 (knock sensor) and clear the system and hope that this solves my issue. Now for this relocation project (the relocation videos for knock sensor) Any suggestions or advice on this project?? Is it as effective as the knock sensor in it's original placement or is it just relocated to remove the check engine light for us picky car enthusiasts? ** and for the relocation there is a black rubber tab in place where knock sensor SHOULD be, should I remove that??** Thanks in advance... |

I don't understand what you mean by there being a black rubber tab in place where the knock sensor should be. You shouldn't be able to see the knock sensor at all, as it's located on top of the engine block, underneath the lower intake manifold. I'm not really sure what you are trying to show with your engine pic, either.
Relocating the knock sensor to a position on the intake plenum or manifold will not be as good as having it mounted to the top of the block, but it will still sense engine knock (to a lesser degree) and the ECM will still be able to use the signal to know when to retard the ignition timing to help prevent damage during an engine knock condition. So, the compromise is a little less sensitivity compared to the labor and expense involved with removing the lower intake manifold to access the original knock sensor. There is a pretty good (and lengthy) thread on the topic at ClubFrontier.org: Knock Sensor Relocation (How-To) - Nissan Frontier Forum |

I'm sorry ignore the black rubber tab comment, I've been stressed out brother.. but thanks I will definitely try this relocation out... Thanks much!
It has 155+ miles on it Its a older car so 800+ isn't what im looking to spend, in your opinion how often do engine knock and would suggest relocating it or should I place it back into the original placement?? It sounds as if it does the same job just not as effective... |

If it were me, I would relocate it. If you ever have the intake off for any reason, you could always move it back.

So bad news, again.... Im getting a P0505 Idle Air Control Auxiliary code any advice for this repair? I still have to fix the knock sensor but now this P0505 code... will this ever end??

Take care of the P0505 first cuz it could fry your ECM.

The ECM "frying" incidents were on the VQ engines, not the VG engines. It "could" be caused by improper base idle setting or intake air leaks, but usually due to a bad or dirty IAC/AAC valve. Follow the factory service manual procedure for the code if you want to diagnose it correctly.

So I haven't repaired/ cleaned the IAC valve nor knock sensor and the Service Engine Soon light has gone off.. been so for about 24 hrs. Is that something I should repair even though it isn't on, or just forget about it
