AC Issue
Have a 2001 Maxima. I have replaced the compressor, expansion and drier. still no AC. I replaced the compressor with 2000 I30 compressor I found in the salvage yard. First time around the system was working backwards. the high side was cold and low side was hot. The compressor does kick in as it should The mechanic is stumped. Any suggestions?

I recommend to have you mechanic read the pressure of the hoses. With the pressure you can determine if the compressor is working or not.

read the pressure of the hoses
He checked the pressure of the hose and everything was reading in range. Which led to him replacing the expansion value and the drier. Even though the compressor is used, it t still is cycling on and off as it should. Suggesting I purchase a new one

I'm sorry, but some of the things your mechanic says don't make sense. If the pressures are in range, why did he replaced the expansion valves and drier. May be you need to get a second opinion. I'm not saying that your mechanic is trying to rip you off, but he may not have enough experience to fix your A/C.
Also, if you change the compressor, don't buy a new unit get a rebuild one instead. |
