Default SMOD Prevention

Hi All, 1st post. This site really is a depth of knowledge.

I'm deep into the timing chain whine fix. I pulled the radiator so that I could get my impact onto the crankshaft bolt. My truck has ~170k miles on it and never had a SMOD issue. Started timing chain whine last year and after replacing the alternator (which didn't fix it) I learned about the cause of the whine. I don't think at this point it would be worth the $ for me to change the radiator out. I'm only doing the timing chains to get it ready to sell.

It's our extra vehicle used for lowes trips and when my daughter needs a vehicle. It's only put 2K miles since last summer. When I can find an Xterra that isn't crazy overpriced I am going to buy that for my daughter's college car.

Sorry, got off track. Anyway would it be wise to replace the radiator or have I already gone past the danger zone on miles?

If it's a 2008 with V6 and automatic, I'd replace the radiator if yours still has the factory one.
