Oil Pressure Relief Valve replacement
My 2005 Frontier with the VQ40DE engine has the dreaded low oil pressure at idle. I was just about to take everything apart to replace the oil pump as I thought I had done everything else when I found a note in the shop manual about the oil pressure relief valve just behind the oil cooler. I checked it and the spring popped out in my hand and the ball disappeared into the oil drain pan. Looks like I may have found the problem.
BUT How do I get the body of the valve out of there? It is press fit in and I can't figure out how to pull it out. It's too small for any of my pullers and I don't want to try to drill it out because that would mess up the shaft around it. Any suggestions would be welcome! Cheers. |
