Default 97 hardbody auto 4cyl 2wd oil capacity

97 hardbody auto 4cyl 2wd oil capacity - I put in 4.2 qt with new filter but it doesn't register on dipstick - dipstick is exact same size/shape as 97 HB manual 4cyl 2wd - doesn't appear to be any leaks from dipstick tube (anyone know length of tube) - thanks for your help (also pan appears to be same size as other HB truck)
