Default 2002 Frontier 3.3L V6

I need some help regarding my truck. It was running fine, Not overheating, but all of a sudden when i stopped at a light the engine died. I am able to restart it every time after it dies. It originally showed a Knock sensor code so I replaced it, however it is still doing the same thing. I changed the thermostat, changed the coolant, and I change the EGR Valve. The air filter is clean. I also cleaned the injectors. I have checked all the fuses. I am not sure what else to check. I was thinking about changing the distributor.

Since doing all the above, I can drive it for a while before it shuts off maybe 3/4 miles. It runs fine when the hood is open. There are no check engine light or any codes anymore.

I noticed in another thread someone wrote about "solenoid which controls the S/C BAV" but I don't know what that is. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Perez,

Have you read the Spark Plugs, checked the Cat's out, checked the Fuel Filter? How many mile's on Truck? How long have you owned the Truck?

The S/C BAV solenoid would only apply if you have the supercharged engine, which you don't have if you have an EGR valve. There are a number of things that can cause this, including but not limited to a faulty distributor. One thing you can do it remove the distributor cap and check for play in the rotor shaft, make sure the bolt that holds the rotor to the shaft is not loose and look for oil and/or metal shavings inside the distributor. Other things that can do it is improperly set base idle, a dirty or faulty idle air control valve, a vacuum leak, excessively worn spark plugs and/or low fuel pressure. Autozone and other auto part stores that have a tool loaner program usually have a fuel pressure gauge you can borrow, if you need one. If you don't have one, I would suggest you download the Engine Control chapter of the factory service manual, which should be available in this site's data base and can provide you with diagnostic procedures for a stalling condition.
