What "BOOK"? Post a picture of SoCalled Page in the BOOK showing the Figure's that YOU STATE.

I have a 2013 SVV6 KC 2WD, AT, and My AVERAGE is 20.5 MPG over about 50 Fillup's, done with pencil/paper after each Fillup.

I guess you have Buyer's Remorse After The Fact. I studied the MPG Stated by the Manufacturer prior to purchaseing mine and figured mine would get about 19 MPG Average,, but mine has exceeded my expectation's.

You Should have done more HomeWork prior to purchaseing Your Frontier.

Thing's that can improve MPG are Clean Air Filter, Proper Tire Air Pressure, Extra Distance between You and the Vehicle Ahead of YOU, Easy on The Gas and Brake Pedal, Start Slowing Down Way Before reaching a Red Light, Don't Exceed the Speed Limit, Really Just use Good Common Sense and Keep Your Truck's Preventative Maintenance UP To Date as suggested in Your Owner's and Maintenance Manual.

Be More Proactive and Slow Down when the Weather and Road Condition's are Bad and Slippery. You came out Lucky when you hit some ICE on the Road, so Thank God and YOUR Lucky Star's that You and Your Wife aren't in the Hospital or Worse.

Good Luck,

Yeah, I don't know what book you are referring to, either. I have a 2006 Pathfinder LE AWD, which shares a lot of the Frontier's parts, including the engine and transmission but is heavier because of the SUV body, and I average 17.5 MPG combined. On a long trip consisting of mostly highways and driving at speeds over 70 MPH, I'll get 21.5 MPG. So, surely your Frontier should be getting much more that that. I think you find the EPA numbers are much higher than that to:

Fuel Economy
