It may allready be bypassed,, but it's easy to do,, and No Excuse Not to.

If you are going to wait to replace it, then do the bypass. On a 2006, it's a simple hose re-routing. As far as the coolant gauge always reading near the bottom of the gauge, that has nothing to do with the radiator; it is more likely a stuck open thermostat. If you are going to replace the radiator, then that would be a good time to do the thermostat as it will be very accessible with the radiator out of the way and the coolant will also be drained, already. I prefer to stick with genuine Nissan thermostats and the gasket, which is metal and sold separately.
