i have a 2006 frontier se with a am/fm cd player in it and was thinking of putting a different radio in it one with blue tooth or navigation from a fancier Nissan maybe a car or something that would fit? also, a while back Nissan had an Ultima i think with a little knob to adjust the window tinting just curious, can this be installed on a truck?

In general, Bose and non-Bose systems have different wiring, amps and speakers; Bose likes to use 2-ohm impedance speakers rather than the more common 4-ohm. The amps are designed for those 2-ohm speakers. There is a work-around for this with a converter. Navigation systems also tend to have different harnesses (the harnesses being part of the vehicle's main harness) than non-navi systems. You also have auto climate control systems versus manual HVAC. So, it's difficult to say what will and will not work without knowing the two head units being swapped. IMO, navigation is a bit of a waste as it has to be updated every few years and most people have built in navigation in their smart phones or use a separate navi unit like Garmin or Tom Tom. That's why you aren't getting much feedback to your question; there are just too many variables and too little information. In some ways, it might be better and easier to go with an aftermarket system if you want those features. Might be worth taking a look at Crutchfield.com.

They don't all have problems with the CD player. There are a number of places that repair the factory radios for a fair price. Just Google "Nissan radio repair" and you should get a number of hits. Most established auto salvage yards should have an interchange guide to let them know what fits your vehicle.

When I bought my 2004 Frontier in 2011, there was a CD stuck in its factory single-CD player, would still play it, wouldn't eject. I installed an aftermarket CD player in its place, bought the Metra install kits, soldered & shrink-wrapped all wires. I also added new 6.5" aftermarket speakers to the door panels as Arizona heat/time just destroyed those, just drilled new holes and soldered on wires there to bypass Nissan's "proprietary"/nutty design and avoid adapters.

The speakers on the sides of the windshield were not touched, and I wouldn't know how to access those anyway !!! Any help for that for the future would be useful !!!
