Default My 2004 Frontier went up in smoke

While backing a trailer into a driveway the power steering hose burst and poured oil onto the the catalytic convertor. A great truck was totaled!

Tom,

Sorry to hear that Your Frontier was Totaled. I keep a fire extinguisher in the Bed Toolbox, but it might not have been enough for this fire.

Now is a good time to get a New Frontier before the New Model Change that is coming,, but we don't know when.

If you want another Nissan, Call Nissan Consumer Affair's and ask them to give you the best VPP that they can to help you get another New Nissan. They gave me a good one that really helped me a lot on getting a New 2013 Frontier. For me it came down to between a New Silverado V6 Work Truck or a New SVV6 KC Frontier. In the end I just got more for less money with the Frontier. I could have gotten an SVV6 CrewCab Frontier for the same price,, but I wanted the 6ft bed.

I've heard they are also giving big discount's on the New Titan's as well now, so several option's to choose from. Now is a good time to buy while the selection is optimum.

I also used TrueCar to see what the lowest price anybody paid for a New Frontier like I wanted. That was very helpful,, as that price is Out The Door, and with the VPP, it really made a big difference.

Sorry Again,, and hope you get a good deal on whatever you choose to get next.

Joe

Have a truck lined up already. Flying to FL next Wednesday to pick it up. It's a 2010 Frontier.

Tom,

That's a nice looking Frontier and with a Metal Front Bumper to boot. I wish mine had a front metal bumper. I opted not to spend more for the model that had one though. If money hadn't been an object,, I would have gotten a front metal bumper though.

It's got the same wheel's that I have on my '13, and I like my wheel's.

If it is a V6 with AT, be sure to check the coolant and Transmission Fluid out. 2005-2010 V6's with AT had issue's with the Coolant mixing with the AT Fluid. 2 way's to address this if the Coolant hasn't allready mixed with the AT Fluid: 1. Bypass the radiator AT Fluid hose's. 2. Get a new Radiator that has been improved to prevent this, which is the best way IMO. The 1st way is really a quick patch method IMO. 2005-2010 MT didn't have this problem.

Best of Luck with your New Frontier.

Joe

Makes me feel better that I spend the money and replaced all of the P/S hoses and lines when I got my 2003 Frontier!

I replaced all rubber hoses when I did a timing belt replacement at 94K. Looks like I should have included the PS hoses. I had been having trouble with the PS, belt squealing when just starting up and turning the steering wheel (not at lock-up). High pressure hose may have been deteriorating internally and acting as a valve.
