Question Desert Runner???

I have a 1999 XE. 5speed 2WD Extra cab.
I sometimes see others that are lower than mine.
Not sure if they are the same years or not.
Because mines is high, is it a Desert Runner????
Was it even an option???

It was an option in 1999. The Desert Runner was, essentially, a 2-wheel drive Nissan truck that used the 4-wheel drive chassis and suspension; all Desert Runners had the V6 engine. The was usually "Desert Runner" stickers on the truck, or at least on the tail gate, as I remember, but they may have been removed over time due to an accident or repair or even a tailgate swap from a non-desert runner. Toyota had a similar model, called the "Prerunner."

I have a 4cly engine, but the truck seems higher than others I've seen.
No stickers on anything.
It's not as high as a 4x4, but is higher.
I wish it were lower. Don't need it high.

Maybe somebody installed a lift or simply cranked up the torsion bars to raise it?

I looked under it. Looks stock.
Some day I'll see if I can lower it.
