relocate knock sensor
I have a 2001 Frontier crew cab with the 3.3 V6. I've got a code 325 that shows a bad knock sensor, I saw somewhere that it can be relocated to the top of the intake manifold with a new harness. I've also herd that this isn't a good idea, any thoughts? thanks

It's not as good as an area as being on top of the block, but it'll still work. It's a good option for those who don't want to pull the lower intake manifold in order to replace the sensor. You need a knock sensor and knock sensor sub-harness from a 95 Maxima. The you locate the wires in the engine harness for the knock sensor, cut and splice in the new subharness. Then you can mount the knock sensor and plug it in. There's a thread about it at Club Frontier: Knock Sensor Relocation (How-To) - Nissan Frontier Forum

I relocated the knock sensor on my V6 Camry i once had.
Located the nearest metal bracket. Engine lifting hook I think. Drilled and tapped the hole. Screwed in the sensor. Seemed to work. Engine had much more power. No more trouble light. No more code. |
