Detailed Instructions To Replace Catalytic Converters?
Hey, everybody!
I have a 2nd gen (2005) Frontier LE that needs both primary cats replaced (a messed up throttle body caused the issue, and two days after it was replaced I got PO430 & PO420). I have checked my post O2 sensors and they are fine. I bought two new cats that are direct fit, and they have the bolts, gaskets, etc. to replace my OEM ones, so no welding. What I cannot find, however, is a detailed write up on how to remove the OEM cats. I've looked through the FSM and do not see it anywhere... All I can find is a diagram showing each part and the torque specs for each nut/bolt. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Is it quite literally remove O2 sensor, unbolt exhaust and slide back, unbolt the cats and install in reverse? Is there anything else I need to remove?? Thanks in advance! |

Pretty easy actually,
If you have access to a lift disregard the fender liners if you want - otherwise: Remove the inner fender liners so you can get at the AF sensors and nuts/studs on the front cat. Remove the sensors. crawl underneath and remove the rear cats. O2 sensors and set aside. Remove the front cats and install the new ones. Reinstall the rear cats. Reinstall the AF sensors. Put the fender liners back on. Be sure to have new cat gaskets on hand |
