Default 1999 frontier door locks never worked

I have a 1999 Frontier SE 4X4 on which the key cannot turn the locks; never has been able to. The key works fine in the ignition. Could it be that the ignition was replaced prior to us buying the truck? and the door locks were not considered. Frustating!
Where can a key be found for this vehicle?

Does the key have a stamped key code?

You can take off the door handle/lock and see what its stamped key code is. Or you could take to your friendly locksmith.

Yes, the ignition tumbler may have been switched out. Does your key operate the lock to turn on/off the passenger air bag?

Does the key operate the air bags? Yes it does which is a little confusing.

Thanks for the response

Then it does sound like the tumbler for the ignition switch has been changed, would a guess that a key made from a door lock cylinder would also work the passenger air bag switch. So easiest is to just get a key made for the doors/air bag switch from the code on one of the door handle tumblers.

If you take the handle in to the locksmith or dealer to get a key cut from code, you'd at least save on labor to pull off the handle/door panel/whatever.

Yes yo are right but it is essential to take it to the dealer or locksmith for the key because it can be made by own but it can't be programmed by own.
