Default 03 Frontier with lousy heat

Hello,

Got an 03 fronty with lousy heat , motor temp is fine 188 -195.

But depending on the outside temp. the heater will blow as low as 87 degrees if it in the teens or twenties.

If it's warmer out say 50-60 the heat blows about 128 but thats still only luke warm. Plus if i turn the blower speed faster.....the heater temp drops.

All the vent position's work when switched and the temp door makes a thud sound when adjusting the temp control from hot to cold so that appears to be working properly.

Anti freeze is good to 5 degrees (i know that needs to be serviced)

Any ideas?

Change the thermostat; and bleed ALL the air out of the cooling system.

With only a 170 & 180 thermo to choose from and what the water temp is, ya still think i should change the thermo?

BTW the top heater hose is much hotter than the lower one

If your coolant temperature is 188-195 - then I would not change the thermostat. Faster blower motor speeds means less residence time to exchange heat over the heater core (or AC core in summer), so that part is normal.

Your AC compressor isn't engaged when you experience this, is it (have to look at the compressor itself, to see if the center part is turning at the belt speed) ?

No,

A/C comp only works when switched on or put to defrost.
