to those repairs(oil, oil filter thermostat, etc)

I am not convinced it was the secondaries, the sound was not that as I heard
in other posts, but I can say that the noise is gone, and so far running great.

Total Bill was $1300.00, and I have a case open with Nissan, should be in touch with me this morning

I have all of the parts that were removed and replaced, haven't had a chance to look at them yet, to see how much wear was on the tensioners.

Can the secondaries be replace through the two black access plates on the front also?

Now to work on the loud fan..

Thanks

Rob

Any update on your case with Nissan?

The timing cover must be removed in order to replace the secondary chains/tensioners.

New here and I read in the online manual (1998 Frontier) that whirring/screeching may be an alarm that the breaks need replaced. I read it 3 tomes to be sure of what I read. I am having the same sound, to me it sounds low in engine and a bad belt. Used to spray "Belt-Ease" on the American made car belts and sound went away. I know I need brakes and tires and a break light switch...I am grateful, a friend gave us this truck. Gets me from A To B.

My 07 Pathfinder with 94000 miles is doing the exact same thing, which is how I stumbled upon this post doing a search. Thank you for the post! Going to get this looked at while the warranty I bought is still good. I checked and it is covered!!!!

I didn't see anyone answer your question so forgive me if this is untimely. The primary chain cover must also be removed to replace or access the secondary chains. The black plates are just there to access the intake cam gear hydraulic tensioner.
