Default D21/Hardbody Master Cylinder

I just bought a 1992 Truck excab 4x4 v6 SE 5spd with 120k on the miles.

Brakes are non existent and looks like the master cylinder is leaking fluid from the side that connects to the black canister behind it (brake booster)? I am going to replace the master cylinder from what I have searched and gathered from other threads. Just need to know if the black canister needs to be changed as well? Also the temp gauge is not reading anything, fuse is good, temps sensor maybe? Thanks in advance.

To test the booster the easy way disconnect the vaccume hose at the booster and then apply the brakes. If it takes excessive petal pressure then the booster is bad. As for the temp gauge it does sound like a bad sensor.

To test the booster can the Master Cylinder be on or does it need to be off? Thank You in Advance

Yes it does and with the system bled if possible.vIf you are unable to bleed the system and the brake petal just goes to the floor the master cylinder is bad.
