Failing Emissions
Failing emissions control for code 1130: Swirl Control Valve Control Solenoid Valve Solenoid Valve. No one seems to know this is or how to fix it. I have looked in the manual and on the computer and cannot find any information for a 1997 Nissan Pickup. Please help.

P1130 code, Swirl Control Valve Control Solenoid Valve.
The EMC will trigger this code, when swirl control valve is not operating properly. Now that doesn’t indicate that the valve is bad. If the valve is OK but no vacuum signal is sent from the Swirl Control Valve Control Solenoid Valve to the Swirl Control Valve Control under specific driving conditions, the ECM will also trigger the light on with the same code. But you may ask how the ECM knows that there is vacuum? Good question, there is a vacuum check switch that will send a signal to the ECM. If the switch is bad it will trigger the same code as well. I think this is not a good system, three different problems and only one code. As a Nissan-Infiniti tech, I have not seen many bad valves; it is usually a clogged vacuum hose to the switch or a bad switch. I recommend removing the hose and check if is clogged. If the hose is OK replaced the switch. Plase let us know what you find and do not forget to register, soon good things coming for registers only.
