Still NO brakes...Please help with 99 Frontier 4x4 V6
Okay I replaced the master cylinder, both front calipers, bled them 10 times, still have a mushy brake pedal. The pedal seems better with the car off, when running it's mushier. Is there some other place to bleed this beast I am missing. I have removed the Abs connector and bled them rears, fronts, criss-cross and there is no air coming out of anything, anyone have any ideas?. I've already spent $300 on parts I never needed as it's probably worse now then I when I started.
I've double checked everything I can think of, there are no leaks. 99 Nissan 4x4 V6 King cab |

Sounds like the master cylinder needs to be bled. You may have fluid coming out but do you have pressure.

MC's can be very difficult to bleed. Based on my training as an auto technician, I always bench bleed it (in a vice and stroke it until most if not all of the bubbles are gone) then once back in the vehicle, do an initial bleed at the MC lines one at a time. from there you move to the furthermost wheel. When bleeding do not quickly pump the pedal up and down as it aerates the fluid. Nice and slow.
The other possibility if the air is indeed all gone, is that the PB rod is out of adjustment. Last edited by jlg2002; 04-15-2010 at 11:45 AM. Reason: typo |

I got fed up and went to the juinkyard and got a complete brake system off a 03 Frontier that looked identical, the truck was rust free so I got everything and just finished installing a known working system including the brake booster, MC, lines, ABS, etc, now I gotta find a helper willing to bleed the entire system another 10 times, even the guys at Advance Auto Parts are wondering what in Gods name am I bleeding as I have through over a gallon of brake fluid already!
If this doesn't work, I'm gonna sell the damn thing. |

Got brakes!
Okay I did exactly as you said but this time followed the 99 service manual bleeding directions that I never had before and re-bled the MC, then the LR, RR, LF, RF then the cracked the lines going into the ABS while pushing down the brake pedal and I now have brakes...not brakes like my Infiniti, but brakes nonetheless, there was some air in the system, possibly still is but I'll drive it for a few days and then try bleeding it again in the correct order stated above and see if any more air was trapped someplace.
