2006 Pathfinder Fuel Guage Recall
Shortly after the warrenty on my 2006 Pathfinder expired, the fuel guage stopped working. When I received the recall notice for the guage I took my Pathfinder to the dealer I purchased from for repair. Attempts were made to fix the guage, with no success. I was then told by the dealer that my problem was not covered by the recall. They could fix it for sure, but would cost me around $800. I have bought a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The gas guage stopped working. Nissan informed me there was a safety concern with my model-year Pathfinder. I could take my Pathfinder to the dealer to have gas guage fixed. The dealership told me sorry, my broken 2006 Pathfinder gas guage is not covered under the 2006 Pathfinder broken gas guage recall. They know how to fix my gas guage, but will be expensive. What am I missing here?
Frustrated, I told my wife to just fill up every 200 miles to avoid running out of gas. My 16 year-old daughter recently started driving my Pathfinder and does not keep up with mileage. My wife ran out of gas on the interstate on her way to work the other morning. It was extremely frightening trying to fill her tank on the side of the road during rush hour traffic. Our lives were in danger. I know this will happen again. I need to know why Nissan has backed out of their commitment to make the 2006 gas gauge "Safety Recall" right with my Pathfinder. Dealership told me only a specific part was covered. I believe your gas guage works, or it doesn't. I bought a Nissan due to a perceived quality reputation. Please give me a reason to buy, or recommend Nissan to others. Thank you for this forum to communicate with Nissan. |

You should try another Nissan dealer or calling Nissan Consumer Affairs: 1-800-647-7261. If you got a letter from the factory it means that you Pathfinder should be cover by the recall.
