Today my 2005 Nissan Titan Crew Cab did not pass safety inspection because of my emergency brake. When you pushed the emergency brake, it pretty much just goes to the floor with not much resistance. So, here is what I have done.
First Steps 1) Replace the brake shoes and all emergency brake springs. 2) Adjusted the pads to be as extended as possible and still get the disc rotar back on the truck. Result: Still the same problem. Second Steps 3) Adjusted the scew on the pedal adjustment under the dash. Moved it all the way out. Result: Now I have plenty of resistance, but the brake does not really hold the truck. Any idea what the problem is? Do I have stretched cables or is there something I missed in the adjustment? For example, should I have moved the pedal adjustment all the way back to its starting position before adjusting my pads in the rotar? Thanks so much for the help!! |
