Synthetic or Not

Didn't know where to post this, so move it if it needs to go elsewhere. Not looking for a Nissan mechanic, just a Nissan mechanic's knowledge.

What is considered high mileage for a switch to a full synthetic? I have wanted to for some time but haven't. Now my Frontier has almost 75K miles on it. Is this too high to switch to a synthetic, and which brand is most favored?

On the flip side, I just bought my wife a 2011 Murano. My plan is to switch to a synthetic around the 9K-12K mile mark. I don't want to change too early, but don't want to hit the 75K mark again without changing.

If I were to change without recommendations, I would choose Mobile 1.

Not at all, you can change to synthetic any time you want. I wrote a post about the synthetic here: Is it ok to switch back and forth between regular and synthetic motor oil?

Mobil 1 is probably the most used, we do more Mobil 1 oil changes at my shop than all the other brands (Eneos, AmsOil, Royal Purple, Valvoline) combine.

What is your opinion of Amsoil. We have a distributor as a contributing sponsor on Frontier forum I frequent.

Also, does the 9K-12K sound about right for the initial switch in my Murano.

All modern cars are comfortably designed for full synthetics...changing up and down does no harm...but sticking to synthetic has more benefits...not only on mileages...but on overall performance of your car!
Mobil 1.is an option among so many other brands...the trick is...make sure its synthetic!
