Default radio/sound problem

On Thursday I was driving around in my xterra playing a CD. Yes a little loud. The CD ejected itself and it was hot as hell. Instantly I lost all sound. I know its not a fuse problem because everything work like if I had the volume down to 0. Does anyone know what happen? Did the amp fry in the radio. I bought it used so can't tell you the sound system I have. Its very basic. A and B presets for radio stations and a single CD player. I need my music back. Someone, anyone, please help me. Thank you.

Probably an internal failure in the radio. You can usually find them on eBay for around $50
