Liftgate wont close

hi I have a 2006 Nissan Armada and my trunk for some reason can open but can not close when you shut it I am having problems figuring out what is the problem

Do you have an electric lift gate latch that pulls the lift shut when you engage the latch? If so, the electric latch motor may have failed.
