2018 Nissan Armada AWD getting poor fuel mileage, Please Help!
Hello! I have had my 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum AWD for about 18 months now, and I just hit 18,000 miles.
I use the Fuelly App to track my fill-ups, and from new, I have averaged only about 9 mpg city driving. I have gone on 2 road trips with it, and got 16 mpg on those. I have taken it to 3 different dealerships, and all said "If the check engine light is not on, then there is not anything wrong." One of them did some type of firmware update, but that did nothing. This car replaced my 2004 Infiniti QX56, which I had for 14 years and put 150,000 miles on, and I averaged 12 mpg city driving in it. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Please Help!!! |

The current Armada is known to be a pig on gas. I would think that it would be quite a bit heavier than your ol' QX4 being that the QX4 had a unibody chassis and the Armada has a body-on-frame chassis. It's also likely producing more power, even though it's the same engine. Another thing is that the QX4, if I remember correctly, had a throttle cable and the Armada will have throttle by wire, which is more sensitive. On my R51 Pathfinders, which also have throttle-by-wire, I find I get the best mileage if I use cruise control as much as possible with a light foot on the accelerator when I'm not using cruise. Also, keep the tires properly inflated and remember that winter-blend gasoline can also lower MPG's.
