Nickoli415 WOW my '05 Xterra doesn't look like a fire truck between the tach and speedo any more! It works! Red lite is off! Also the "air bag 2" passinger lite works on & off like it should! I Love You Man! Thanks for that info!!

Depending on the actual code number, there IS a bulletin on the pre-tensioner harness. Get more info from your dealer as to which code it is and check back in!

Ok, Guys, in ref. to Nickoli415's method to reset the belt/airbag light: Yes! as reported a few days ago, it works! Super! My 2005 Xterra SE has 129,000 mi. on it. I just came back from a short 425 mi. road trip and the light is still off. Yes! That was with and without a passinger in the front seat. So... still lookin' good... By the way, about a yeat ago I went to the Nissan dealer in Hickory, NC about the flashing red light. Get ready... they said it was an indication of the passinger air bag-failure and it needed to be replaced. "Oh about $1500.00" they said. I too said, "Humm... get back to you later." I had a very good extend warranty plan at the time and the dealer said it was not covered. Then I smelled the "2nd Rat." Nuff said. One more comment which may be of help: I have used Valvoline full syn., 5w-30 oil since day one (do changes myself @ 3,500 mi.) Now, we always "knock on wood" but there are no strange sounds from under the hood and she still runs like a "Raped Ape."

2006 Nissan xterra
It's 1 a.m. in Venice, Florida. I have an appointment with Venice Nissan in just a few hours at 9 a.m. to get my air bag light "tested" to see what's wrong with it. Thankfully, a light bulb went off in my head to google my problem with my 2006 Xterra air bag light flashing. This forum came up immediately & I saw Nick's post on page 1 right away. I immediately went outside to try it out because I was so excited and it worked on the 1st try. That saved me the $60 that it was going to cost just for the testing & then saved me the "$100-$250 average estimation for repairs" as stated by the Nissan place. WHAT A RIPOFF! Thankfully there are kind people like Nick who have had the inside scoop at a Nissan shop and shared it with us so we didn't get ripped off! Thanks again!!!!!

I was able to reset the light on my '07 Frontier on the first try using this method but it began flashing again within a minute or two. I reset it a second time and again it started flashing. I then read about the code patterns that appear in diagnostic mode but I can't seem to get it back into diagnostic mode (or to reset at all). Any suggestions other than keep trying?
Thanks. |
